RockCafe Halford - Berlin

I'm a huge Rob Halford fan so I had to find the Rob Halford Cafe when we got to Berlin. Marc didn't know that the owner was going to look like the metal god himself and did a doubletake to make sure it wasn't really him. How about the huge ceramic image of Halford out front?

KaDaWe Department Store - West Berlin

KaDaWe is West Berlin's famous department store - the largest in Europe. When the wall fell, this was the first place that East Berliner's came to. The food court takes up the whole floor and is pretty incredible. Aside from the wonderful food products and market, you can eat pretty much any kind of food. Plus there is a wonderful restaurant and bar above the food court.

The Reichstag Dome

Dachgarten Restaurant in the Reichstag Dome

Having reservations at the Dachgarten Restaurant was a bonus. It is located on the rooftop on the Reichstag, so we got to check in with ID at the desk, go through a metal detector, and take the private elevator to the dome. This meant bypassing the line of tourists waiting to take another elevator to the dome. The restaurant was beautiful, modern and relaxed. We really enjoyed our lunch. Can you tell?

Gwen and JoJo

Gwen and I have known each other since we were 12, where we grew up on the Upper West Side. She has been living in Germany for the past 14 years and I hadn't seen her since she moved. I love Gwen!

Neuschwanstein Castle - Fussen, Germany

We took the 6:30 am train for two hours to Fussen, Germany. Schloss Neuschwanstein is the most famous tourist attraction in Bavaria. If you do not have advance reservations, you could be waiting on line for hours to visit this castle, especially in the summer. It was so beautiful. There was no snow in Munich but 2 hours later, there was a thin layer of snow in Fussen. After taking the train, there is a five minute bus ride to the castle. From there, you can walk uphill or take the horse carriage for about 10 minutes. Marc posed for a photo next to the horse and got a big lick on his sleeve.

Dachau Concentration Camp

Dachau Concentration Camp is located outside of Munich. A lot of it has been rebuilt as a museum as a reminder to everyone. Walking on the grounds and inside the buildings were nauseating and surreal.

Marienplatz - Munich, Germany

This is the main square in Munich, right in front of the Glockenspiel. These are photos of the outdoor Christmas Market in Marienplatz.

Viktualienmarkt - Munich, Germany

Munich's outdoor greenmarket complete with a beer garden. Marc enjoyed the fresh juice.
